  13. As a professional advocate we can evaluate the situation with objective eyes and provide guidance and direction. Family members base many of their decisions on emotions. They can be educated on all options before making a final decision.
  14. Represent the older adult for benefits and entitlement (ex. Medicaid)
  15. Coordinating and facilitating Advance Directive planning such as Health Care Proxies, Living Wills, and educating clients on specific directives such as Non-Hospital Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) and Medical Order for Life Sustaining Treatment (MOLST) forms
  16. Coordinating and connecting the older adult/caregiver with other resources, such as support groups, educational literature and websites, and health care specialists
  17. Assist in the development and implementation of Powers of Attorney
  18. Providing crisis intervention and management
  19. Offer counseling and emotional support
